Re: Anerica's test kitchen ... bleh
Mon, April 17, 2006 - 4:22 AMWe don't have any real problem with it. It's just kinda dry. Remember, it's a group of college professors, not chefs. -

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 8:29 AMMost of the taste tests have beenright ion the money for me. I like that theyare not swayed by the pretensious labels. I did my own taste test on Dark Chocolate and on Chicken Stock. The were right on the money. Cooks Illustrated is one of two cooking magazines that I subscribe to because they are so often correct and free of snobbery. -

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 1:45 PMThe magazine is also free of advertising. It's a real pleasure to have a quality cooking magazine that is purely content (and quality content at that). -

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 2:20 PMAlso, you can download pdf copies of old articles and reviews from their website! I don't subscribe, but I do tend ot buy a majority of the issues that come out each year! That and Saveur are the two food magazines I buy or subscribe to with regularity.

Re: Anerica's test kitchen ... bleh
Wed, August 2, 2006 - 5:32 PMI really like the fact that they pay attention to the budget-minded. I love their equipment tests--if there's a gadget that does the job not quite as well as the top-priced model, but for a lot less money, they will recommend the budget model. There are very few cook's resources left that won't sell out to the highest bidder, so I will maintain my subscription on that point alone.
