Alton apparently was selected to do his show by randomly dropping a tape off at Food Network. Rachael Rae uses voodoo and witch trickery. So you think she's evil too? Join the rant that grew too big for "Filet Bobby Flay."

or, you know, wander the streets of Paris telling us that if we forgoe the tip, we can add desert and *still* make it under budget. ;-) -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 12:52 PMRachel Rae is a source of good cooking tips. I always enjoy her 30 minute meals.
Her travel show does nothing for me. I've never done anything under budget.
Evil or voodoo, I could care less. I enjoy her for the 30 minutes and that is all I want. Just like any other celebrity... entertain me and leave me alone. I could give a hoot about celebrity's personal life. -

Oh! That's where the Paris and "tips" things came from. That had me scratching my head. I didn't know she has a travel show. I've just seen the 30 Minute Meals show. -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 1:23 PMLOL. oh, sorry. :-)
she has a show called "40 dollars a day", and she goes to all these domestic and international locations telling you how to get by on 40 bucks.
and she talks about things like "well, i decided to just have water with my meal", and has that goofy, overly happy smile on... and i just want to tell her... "good god, women, you aren't even paying for the meals, your show is".
;-)

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 11:48 PMRR can be a bit of a dorky fangirl -- note her starstruck interview with wossname from Aerosmith -- and I've come to feel that's a good thing. In an era when it's chic and cool to pretend to be a geek or a nerd, it's good to see tv still has a place for the real thing! Though she has a long way to go before she can equal the enlightened geekhood of AB and his band.
I've also come to appreciate her repeated willingness to get drunk on television... which is in itself a great boon to a man of my advanced age who is too embarassed to watch any of the "Girls Gone Wild" videos.

Braise Rachael Rae and New York Times
Thu, October 20, 2005 - 9:33 AMI cannot believe the New York Times did an article about her in the Wednesday Food section.
Be afraid, be very afraid......... -
-
Re: Braise Rachael Rae and New York Times
Thu, October 20, 2005 - 9:36 AMWell, she is very popular on TV, and the Times has a declining readership, so it's natural that they'd try to do a print story about someone a lot of people watch...

Wed, June 8, 2005 - 9:10 AMGod that woman annoys me. She's just like, *too* flipping happy.
EVOO ! rolls eyes. :-)
The other one that really really really needs to be shot, is the "semi homemade" women.
Speaking of "starts" anyone know how Emeril got his show? -
-
Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 9:39 AMI figure that he was "discovered" at a Chili's or an Applebee's or something. That's where he'd be if he didn't have a show... -

Mon, June 20, 2005 - 8:01 PMRachael Rae.. babe .. hands down.. yes shoot rh 'semi-home-made' bitch.. and as for Emeril. well lets just say.. if he hadn't done what he did.. you wouldn't have a food network to watch.. he owns a restaraunt on the east coast and is originally from New york.. he just likes cooking cajun style.. sorry I actually watched the show about him.. -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Thu, July 7, 2005 - 5:27 PMHe owns 8 resturants, at my last count. -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 2:14 PMI agree with Gunnar. I hate the Semi Homeade Chick. At least Rachael has practical recipes and tips for people like me who work. And yes she does have some annoying sayings EVOO-.... I want to kill her when she says that. But this is Food Network not PBS. Do you guys really think that these chefs don't have to stick to the Food Network Format? I am sure millions are spent on focus groups with morons who love these sayings. The Network Exec is like Rachael... They love it when you say EVOO. Emeril, they love the BAM do it again. Paula... More BUTTER!!!! Can you tell I don't trust those evil network execs? Just my 2cents....

she's happy about doing the dishes, for heaven's sake. "if you put this big bowl just for the trash, at the side of your work space - how good is THAT?"

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Tue, June 21, 2005 - 7:42 AM<And she is way too freaking happy about every little thing.>
Yes! Happy is BAD! Happy is EVIL! Happy people are annoying! Happiness MUST BE DESTROYED! There is already too much happiness in the world without Rachel Rae adding to it. ;-)
Actually, I happend to watch her show last night. She made a great looking steak and shrimp meal. :-P~ For that, I'll tolerate a little happiness.
Say, isn't this tribe supposed about Good Eats, anyhow? There's already a Rachel Rae bashing tribe. -

Yes, enough talk about my perverse sexual fantasies involving Rachael Rae. Time for talk about my perverse sexual fantasies involving "W."
Apparently, a few years back, actress-chiropractor Vickie Eng released a video called "Oriental Secrets: Heavenly Circulation of Chi - Ancient Methods to Achieve Vitality" -- the mind boggles. -
-
Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Sun, August 14, 2005 - 12:49 AMOoo. "W" is hot. If whe's the person with the chi video you mentioned. I'm down. Lol.
Gotta love anyone who knows their chi, kitchen gadgetry, and Alton Brown. -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 9:29 AMWell, I'll weigh in.
I watch Foodnetwork from 5:30 until 8 everynight, while I'm doing my chores around the house and cooking dinner - it makes great background noise and is more interesting than watching the crap that passes for T.V. these days.
Yes, the Semi-Homemade Chick is VERY annoying - but if you put her show on mute- sometimes you can get some great fast entertaining ideas. She has some good ideas.
I love Rachel Rae - but then again, I'm often accused of being too happy - so her incessant cheerfulness doens't bother me. Sometimes her recipes are fairly boring, but I am usually impressed with her ability to adjust traditional recipes and have them done. She also plans the whole meal for 30 minutes, and I like that.
Of course, I love Good Eats. :) I just made his French Onion soup - to die for!
Now. . . Emeril needs to be shot. His recipes suck. He has HORRIBLE technique, and he is as annoying as all hell. Food Network was around before him, and will be around after he has a heartattack and dies - for my money that can't be soon enough. I hate that he gets an hour on the TV every night.
Anyway, just my opinion.

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 9:32 AMOh, just a few P.S. notes:
Before Emeril got the 8:00 spot - there were other people on Food Network that were ditched because of the masses of bad women cooks fell in love with Emeril.
Jacques Pepin, Wolfgang Puck (also annoying, but at least a good chef), Jamie what's-his-name-the Naked Chef, that wierd guy that had the cooking show in the 70's that everyone thought was Gay, Julia Child's show used to be on Food Network. . .
There are tons of people who are talented chefs who were ditched because of the Emeril and his followers of "It doesn't matter if you can cook as long as you through chili powder on it" method.
~smile~
Meredith
P.P.S. I REALLY hate that guy. -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Tue, October 18, 2005 - 1:33 PMEmeril stinks on ice. He'll always be, by far, more annoying than RR could ever be. Watching all of the flat-lining mouth-breathers in the audience fawn and gush over him makes me physically ill.
Indeed -- there are lots of more capable, more interesting and by far more entertaining folks whose airtime has been reduced or eliminated to make more room for Emeril dreck. I actually *learned things* and was *inspired* by watching just about any show that Tyler Florence did.

Fri, December 16, 2005 - 4:02 AMLord, I miss all those shows. The Galloping Gourmet and Julia Childs...I used to stay up until the wee hours just to catch those two shows before Food Network signed off for the night. Remember Two Fat Ladies? -

Re: Braise Rachael Rae
Tue, June 21, 2005 - 6:14 PMOne LAST thing, honest! :)
Just to make it clear, I have nothing against happy, I like being happy whenever possible. Being around happy people is also preferable to being around depressed angry people. However, being happy about having EVOO in a show kitchen and declaring it in that little voice/giggle grates after about, oh, 30 seconds.
End of rant...
Good Eats is still awesome.

Thu, June 23, 2005 - 10:04 PMI was thinking of developing a drinking game concerning her show. One shot whenver she giggles in self amusment, one shot whenver she ROLLS her freaking eyes when she over exagerates the "GREAT TASTE" of something she's eating, any other ideas on when to take a drink? -
