Well, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed "Feasting". It was still Alton in every way, but it was a different Alton. I less polished and rehearsed Alton. I loved it. The music; the quotes before each commercial; the travelling companions and crew; the stops; the history ... everything just gelled so well together. My only regret is that we only get four hours. I would love if this were a regular series!
My biggest compliment? It has made me want to hit the road! I have a short trip to Idaho planned with friends in November, and I've already informed them that we will be takling all two-lane highways ... NO INTERSTATES!!
Thanks AB!!

Sun, August 20, 2006 - 12:22 PMI thoroughly enjoyed all four episodes, but I think the finale was particularly noteworthy. The scenes with the trucker couple and the cop were priceless. I want more!
For many years, when on road trips I've made it a habit to get off the Interstate any chance I get. You see an entirely different world there. I probably get this weird urge from my father, who made it his life's goal to visit every single county in the continental U.S. He accomplished that a few years ago. Sadly, with the price of gas and the very serious concerns with global warming and our dependence on foreign oil, the days of extensive road-tripping may be over. I have a lot of respect for Alton on this one, though--motorcycles are far more fuel-efficient, no? -

Sun, August 20, 2006 - 2:29 PMYep, every one. He started pretty young, obvoiusly. He was a college teacher, so he had summers off and would pile us kids in the car and drive away every summer. No doubt why I have such an affinity for Feasting on Asphalt....
