Anthony Bourdain was recently on the Commonwealth Club broadcast on
NPR. During question and answers he had some very nice things to say
about Alton (and some not so nice things about other Food Network
chefs.)

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Sat, August 12, 2006 - 2:33 PMWhew! Believe it or not, I've always worried about what AB would think of AB (ha!). I like both of these guys so much, that I was dreading Bourdain's seemingly inevitable criticism of Alton. -

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Sun, August 13, 2006 - 1:50 AMDarn, my computer doesn't seem to know what application to use for that audio link. So sad; I really wanted to hear it.
Glad to know that AB likes AB, though! (Wonder if the sentiment is mutual?)

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Mon, August 14, 2006 - 12:11 PMThat was an interesting talk.
I was happy that he pointed out that Mario Baltali, and Sarah Moulton, shouldn't be pushed aside and dropped from new shows when they really know how to cook.
I read an article:
Debbie Does Salad:
The Food Network at the Frontiers of Pornography
www.barbaranitke.com/harpersmag.html
This discusses the trend away from chefs like them. -

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Thu, August 2, 2007 - 1:18 PMhummm. that article brings an intersting feeling to my view of Food network.
i either LOVE or HATE the individuals on shows. seems never an inbetween.
HATE HATE HATE rachel and her stupid EVOO - that's Extra Virgrion Olive Oil (duh - you just said it 10 mintues ago). my hubby says "punch her in the teeth". I hate the blond bimbo who does everything "semi homemade" and makes sure her clothes match her kitchen. and hate stupid emerel.
yet i love Giada, Good EAts, Barefoot Contessa
so i wonder what all that says about my sexual preferences (or porn preferences) -

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 12:13 PMI love both these gents...they are prolly my SUPER favorite celeb chef's.
There was an article in a Food Arts (2-3 months back) that commented on the fact that some culinary schools are now offering classes on how to become a Celebrity Chef... they teach how to do demos, marketing, public speaking and becoming media savvy....but not how to cook. It sickens me to think that our chosen profession has been boiled down to who's the prettiest and not who rocks the line.
My fave TV chefs tho, are Emeril, Barefoot Contessa, Sara Moulton, Bobby Flay (he's not so much an ass anymore), Alton and Anthony Bourdain. And if either AB happens upon this post, they should call me...I would be great on TV!

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Tue, August 28, 2007 - 9:26 PMGiada and BC -- I don't like either of them. With Giada, it's so much FOOD PORN, that I can't watch her. And -- that probably says enough about my sexaul preference... She's very pretty -- although what's with the fish-eye lens already??

Re: Anthony Bourdain on Alton Brown
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 4:50 PMI listened that that whole thing, much of it twice, and I didn't hear any mention of Alton. Anyone know about how far into that talk he was mentioned?
Thx!
